Pricing is based on breed's size, coat type/condition, haircut desired, and temperament for grooming.
Although each breed has their own set base price, length of time to complete the groom is still taken into consideration.
Large breeds in particular are generally more time consuming, but when certain "abnormal" factors are also present, the time used to complete the groom needs to be accounted for.
This includes: impacted/matted coat, severely overweight, trouble standing, or ill-mannered for any part of the groom. (usually over the 1.5- 2 hour mark = increase in price depending on the reason).
This Husky was VERY over due for a bath, so it led to her coat becoming severely impacted. She took 4-5 hours to complete so was the same total for 3-4 small breeds that would take up that same amount of time.
Most Husky baths are $55-$65 (don't take over 2 hours to complete).
For breeds that REQUIRE haircuts (yorkies, shih tzus, malteses, poodles, schnauzers, and similar) it's recommended to have the dog be on a regular schedule to reduce matting and to maintain the desired haircut/style. Since multiple dogs of the same breed have different coat textures and growth, the time between grooming appointments varies per client.
If keeping a longer coat is desired, some may require baths in between haircuts to prevent matting (bath every 2-3 weeks and haircut every 4-6 weeks). Shorter haircuts/shaves are much lower maintenance which generally means more flexibility with scheduling, but most still would be "due" for the next appointment around 8-10 weeks max.
Your dog's groom price is subject to change without prior notice.
